Job Summary:

Provide high-quality perioperative anesthesia care for neonates, infants, and children across elective and emergency settings, ensuring best-practice clinical standards, safety, and family-centered care. Participate in on-call coverage, quality improvement, and the teaching of junior staff.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications & ExperiencePrimary medical degree and completed specialty training in Anesthesiology.Western Consultant credentials (one of the following):UK CCT / CESR (CP) in Anaesthesia (with Pediatric Anesthesia emphasis), orAmerican Board in Anesthesiology (+ recognized Pediatric Anesthesia fellowship), orIrish Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia (College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland),(Other equivalent Western boards may be considered.)Fellowship-level pediatric anesthesia training from a recognized center; minimum 2–3 years post-fellowship consultant experience preferred.Current PALS/ACLS; simulation and difficult-airway skills desirable.Strong record in quality, safety, teaching, and MDT collaboration.English fluency required; Arabic an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver safe pediatric anesthesia (general, regional, sedation) for surgery, interventional radiology, endoscopy, and diagnostic procedures.Lead pre-op assessment, risk stratification, and perioperative optimization for complex pediatric cases (ASA I–IV).Manage intra-op monitoring, airway (including difficult airway), ventilation strategies, and hemodynamics for all pediatric age groups.Oversee post-anesthesia recovery, pain control (including nerve blocks/caudals), and escalation of care to PICU/NICU when required.Participate in pediatric resuscitation, rapid response, and code teams; maintain PALS/ACLS competencies.Contribute to MDT pathways with Surgery, PICU/NICU, Cardiology, Radiology, and Nursing for safe patient flow.Lead/participate in morbidity & mortality, clinical governance, and quality improvement projects.Teach and mentor residents/trainees; support CME activities and guideline development.Comply with hospital policies, documentation standards, and patient-safety/JCIA accreditation requirements.
